"Well apparently you're going to be trouble, aren't you?" Tone shifting to something amused, smoke and embers starting to chase the words as his stance shifted, ready to-
Nothing if Cloak had anything to say about it, tail end whipping up and over his face to block his view as well as whatever he'd been planning, earning a muffled snarl, grabbing at the fabric with both hands to try and rip it away before Danny got too close.
"Probably a whole lot, yeah." Even injured he moves fast, sucking it up for a few minutes more to take advantage of the time Cloak bought him to sweep Stephen's feet out from under him and pin him to the grass.
"You gonna tell me what's going on, or should I just knock you out now?"
He'd managed to catch hold of the fabric and yank it free of his face, but only to hit the ground immediately after, mouth twisted into a snarl as he found himself pinned.
"Now why would I do a thing like that?" And he certainly wasn't planning on letting Danny knock him out. Breathing hellfire might not be a usual skill in Strange's arsenal but right now? It was.
Luckily the suit isn't flammable, though he burns just fine with out his chi protecting him, and Danny has to roll back and flip to his feet to keep from losing the better part of his face.
"Buddy you don't wanna challange me to a fire fight." He snorts, summoning his own sort of fire to his palm, though it burns blue rather than bright, a fresh spike of adrenaline helps, because there's no way he should be moving like this.
After that it's just a game of tag, since all he has to do is level his hand on him to help burn the intruder out.
"Stephen I disapprove of your choice of house guests."
That just got a laugh, the sorcerer pushing to his feet as Danny was forced to dodge. Fire springing to life in his palms, enveloping his arms up to his elbows.
"You should hear him in here." Flinging a handful of fire, followed by another as the flames in his hands burned brighter. flickering from red, to orange, to yellow as the heat increased with each throw. "I wonder how much heat it will take to simply sear his soul from his body."
Not intending to let Danny get too close, fast and aggressive with the fistfuls of fire he was flinging. Some sort of magic keeping his arms from simply burning, but the energy was being seared away as the moments ticked by, sleeves under the flames starting to smoke and smolder though it was likely hard to see at this point.
He doesn't dodge the fire, arms moving up to deflect each attack away, clearly what ever this thing is, it doesn't know who it's dealing with.
"Probably a lot more than you'd think."
The Iron Fist grounds himself for a moment, exhaling as the energy spreads, eyes following each offensive motion, trying to give him a moment to wear himself down, reading into his attacks in search of a weakness.
He finally waits between throws to dart forward, dropping down to slide himself in the grass under the wave of fire, springing back up to land a solid hit right into the center of his chest-- surprisingly there's little force behind it, just a tap that spreads his own sort of searing blue fire rushing through him.
It was a combination of actually being hit and the sudden proximity that had him darting back, but whatever he'd been braced for as far as the contact went? Obviously didn't happen which just had a smug dark sort of smirk cross his lips.
"That's it? Really?" Even as he was speaking he was moving in again, reaching as if he'd be grabbing the other man, only for his hands to come up short as if his arms were being restrained, smirk fading to a scowl.
While the demon hadn't noticed what had happened? Stephen certainly had, that much was very clear, and he was not about to pass up the opportunity that had arisen. An incantation snarled out, voice ruined from the heat and smoke just yet, but it seemed to make no difference in this case as the spell hastily cast took hold- a green glow spreading through veins, disappearing just as quickly, before the sorcerer stumbled, hit the ground on hands and knees.
Danny's own expression is smug, and he really hopes it's the last thing the intruder sees before getting locked up or sent back or obliterated... whatever would happen to it once the doctor took back over.
He tries to reach as Stephen stumbles, catching his shoulder, though it's not very helpful because Danny's sinking to his knees as well, laughing out an exhausted little sound.
Demon gone or not, Stephen was in miserable shape. Nodding jerkily at the question, trying to speak, except instead he wound up hacking up soot, grimacing at the raw, painful feel of his throat.
"T-think so-" Managed after a long moment, voice rough. Trying to ease up off of his hands but certainly not up to keeping himself up just yet, slumping against Danny.
"Sorry." Brows furrowing as his gaze settled on his hands, the burns that were certainly just going to make everything all manner of delightful.
"Does that happen a lot?" Danny sounds concerned, both for the doctor and for the situation, he moves closer to keep Stephen upright, reaching to smooth his hair back where it's plastered to his forehead. Skin still too warm under his fingers.
"Thankfully no. An... ill-advised spell that I should have known better than to use." Replied with a small grimace. Not really paying any mind to the way he tilted his head slightly into the touch of Danny's comparatively cooler hand.
"Once the world stops spinning? I really don't want to revisit breakfast."
"Yeah what ever that thing was was pretty nasty." He shifts to sit as well, needing the moment to rest on his own, taking Stephen's burned hands in his own, doing his best to try and soothe the worst of the burns with his chi.
"You learn your lesson?" He teases, not really the sort to chastise, especially since he still didn't understand what had happened. "And where'd it go?"
"Eblis, the Lord of Djinn. I forced it back into the realm it was imprisoned within in the first place." Letting Danny take his hands, trying to ignore the throbbing pain of them. If anyone could help ease them at this point it would be him, so there was little point in worrying just yet.
"The creature was more connected to that incantation than I'd thought. Goes to show what happens when I spellcast rashly."
"What was that about anyway? Usually you're under better control." Recent injuries are easier to heal, but Danny doesn't have much energy left to spare between the fight and dealing with the Djinn.
"It was the first spell that came to mind. Probably because I was in the middle of studying it's origins when this all went to hell." Not the entire truth, but was someone having issues admitting they might care about their friend?
Not that this was new, Stephen was never that great with dealing with his emotions after all.
"Well try to be more careful, huh? I don't think it had good plans for you." Danny shifts back to sit cross-legged in the grass, trying to at least ground himself enough to heal, though he's pretty much on empty.
"Give me a minute, I'll get you back somewhere safe." Danny's kinda taken up being Stephen's 'out of the house' guardian while Wong was doing other things. It's not like he couldn't use the help.
"Wouldn't be the first time, right?" A bad joke perhaps, but there it was. For the moment, Stephen sat where he was, flexing his fingers gingerly to keep them from stiffening up too badly. He and Danny both were tapped for the moment.
"Saying that like you don't need a place to rest now too." Stephen had noticed how Danny seemed to pay more mind to his well-being when they were out like this. He knew Wong certainly appreciated it, and that it was what friends did... He just wasn't sure how to react to it himself.
"I'm not at my best, no." He grins ruefully. But he's equally stubborn when it comes to broadcasting any of his injuries or weaknesses, though that's been trained into him.
"Except I don't think we can really call a cab out on this one."
"Well, worst case my cloak can at least get us to where we need to go." It wouldn't be the first time the Cloak of Levitation had taken him home when he'd pushed himself too far, not that he'd be saying as much. The cloak itself simply fluttered it's hem, as if in agreement.
