INBOXtext / audio / video / action[Stephen hasn't bothered to record a proper voicemail message, so enjoy the standard one. Because let's be real he has way too many Important Trashdoctor Things To Do to be worrying about which of you nerds know who's number they've phoned.
You're smart, he has faith you can figure it out. Or something.]code credit
[Not perfect, but it was a start. Once he'd done this, he settled his hands down again, so Sam could give it another go if he wanted. Practice makes perfect after all.]
Also, it's easier to focus on keeping bonds secure the less individual restraints you use.
I doubt that even a demon would want my kidneys at this point.
[When the new binding winds around his legs, Stephen gives a testing tug, nodding in approval.]
Kind of. You don't even really need to think of knots or anything like that, the bindings can be without any sort of opening or ends which makes keeping focus a bit easier, less individual elements to the binding to keep track of making sure they stay put.
[For example he conjured a slim binding that tugged Sam's wrists lightly together, no ends or knots to the red glow of the band. Easy enough to tug free of, it was for Sam to get a look at more than anything.
He was the one practicing his spells after all, not Stephen.]
Hey, they might be a magical delicacy. Marinated in Cthulhu juice.
[Sure, Stephen, just ignore the innuendo. Sam just sighs and tugs to break his bonds, then loops a binding around his chest and arms, pinning him to the chair.]
It's harder to visualize one continuous binding once it gets too convoluted, though. Like if I had one connecting your wrists and your ankles, unless you were kinda- magically hogtied. [Which he can't do with Stephen in the chair.]
I don't know, demons don't like my fridge any more than any of my other guests.
[He's pretending like this won't devolve into sex at some point. For now at least.
Once Sam adds the second binding, Stephen gives it a moment before he once again tests the restraints to see how they'll hold up.]
True. Then it becomes a balance of complexity versus separation and which is better for the situation. You can use the bindings to haul your target around too with a little focus- mentally tugging the rope, so to speak. So you can get a good hold with a loop and pull them either somewhere it's easier to truss them up, or just to yank them into the line of fire if you need to. Or to pull someone out of the same.
[Oh my god, Stephen, are you making him work for it or something?]
In other words, it's not how many spells you know, but how creative you can get with the ones you do know.
[And Sam's thinking about getting creative, because let's be real, all their magic lessons are going to end in sex somehow. Even if the sex doesn't involve magic.
(At some point, he's going to ask Stephen about sex magic.)]

Mmm. [Sam produces a longer "rope" that loops both legs at once.] Some kind of magical shibari? 'Cause that seems like it'd be harder.

Exactly. And we both know you can get plenty creative.
[He knows that question's coming up at some point.]
